Curling Resumes January 3 – Latest from the PHO

We have now received clarification from the various government agencies and levels, via Curl BC, that regular league play will not be impacted by the latest round of COVID-19 protocols introduced in the Provincial Health Orders of December 17 and 22.

League play will resume as scheduled on Monday January 3.

As we operate under a “Club” Liquor License, the Stone’s Throw lounge *will* be open, however we must restrict patrons to one party per table (in effect, that means one team), with a maximum of six seats, and seats will be 2 metres apart between tables.

Bonspiels are not allowed until February 1 at the earliest. The Jack Anderson, scheduled for January 19-23 has been postponed – new dates are pending. We expect announcements concerning our Club bonspiels: the Ladies, Men’s and Sooo Long, all happening in March, to be forthcoming soon.

With the Esquimalt Curling Club shutting down to allow that facility to host a vaccination centre, the second half of our year promises to be busier than the first, as we may be able to welcome curlers from Esquimalt into our leagues – we are working on the logistics of this as we speak, and will have announcements as to availability and times within the next several days.

Thanks to everyone for a successful first half of the year, and have a happy holiday until January!
