About Us

History

The Victoria Curling Club was incorporated as a not-for-profit society of BC on November 20, 1949. A lease on the land was obtained through the City of Victoria in June, 1950. Through considerable efforts of a dedicated few, funds were raised through the sale of debentures and a building was constructed and opened in February of 1953; since that time it has been in continuous operation.

A staple in our Community

VCC is proud of the impressive achievements that its members have accomplished since the facility opened – numerous provincial champions; national champions; world champions; and coaches with Olympic experience have all stepped on the Club’s ice. In 1958 the building played host to the MacDonald Brier. And many of the Club’s volunteers were part of the 2005 and 2013 World Men’s Curling Championships, along with the 2009 Ladies Scott Tournament  of Hearts.

The facility hosts 8 sheets of ice, 20 weekly leagues and the Greater Victoria Curling Academy – a youth training program that runs Monday through Wednesday with credits going towards middle school and high school physical education. Ice rental opportunities are available for bonspiels, funspiels, shorties, and school groups. The Club’s innovative instructional programs range from junior programs (such as the Optimist Junior League and the Curling Academy) to our Curl4Life Curling Clinics and beginners league program.

There is truly something for everyone at the VCC.
